63 foot boat

can I bring a 63 foot narrow boat from York to the Shropshire union canal, thanks

I would suggest that you measure the boat accurately, because if it is no longer than 63ft you might just manage it as the published dimensions for the Leeds and Liverpool Canal is 62.83ft and since this is a wide waterway you can put the boat diagonally in the lock.
You will need to be prepared to lift fenders and be extremely careful to watch the boat when negotiating locks as they are not identical and there is more likelyhood of hanging a boat up under these conditions.

The other option, of course, is the tidal Trent route, though this needs careful planning and experience, as well as suitable equipment. However, given good conditions, it is a good route- the Trent Boating Association has good charts and advice for the tidal Trent and Ouse.
