Tips for hose pipe

I am trying to get three quarter inch sanitary hose onto a whale gulper inlet - impossible to do? I have tried leaving in boiling water to soften- any tips?

WW says:

Getting hose onto fittings can be challenging!
One tip is to cut a chamfer onto the inside of the hose with a sharp knife; this will make the end more pliable. Then to use boiling water, absolutely as hot as possible, to soften the hose. Then work as quickly as possible as the hose does not hold the heat for very long.
Do make sure that you have put the clip onto the pipe first!

If all else fails try a new piece of pipe as the plastic hardens with age, becoming less pliable.

Some mild detergent (washing up liquid) can help as well...
