service manual

I need a SERVICE MANUAL for a Lister LRM / SRM 2 cylinder air cooled diesel engine . Also any advice on servicing said engine much appreciated .

If you go to this site http://www.motoren.ath.cx/ and then click the Union Flag, then lister in the column to the left, you will be able to access the manual for the Lister SR series engines. It is a copy of the original engine manual.
Generally, keeping an eye on the oil level is important- if it starts rising, it can mean dilution of the lubricating oil with diesel (the injector arrangement means diesel can enter the sump).
Also, make sure that the are outlets are kept free of debris (leaves are bad at this time of year) and that you also check the tension of the alternator belt.
Lister air-cooled engines are quite bomb-proof- generally, a nice clean engine will mean you can spot problems. Some engines that have been run lightly can soot up, but a good run on a river underload can help shift that.
