Q & A

I was hoping to cruise the LLangollan canal this year but have been told with a draft of 66cm.this is not possible is this true.

WW says:

A 66cm draft is perfectly fine for the Llangollen canal (approximately 2'2"). There are shallow sections, notably in the concrete trough in the upper feeder section, but even then, you will be able to cruise. My boat draws a little more than this and have never experienced problems.

The published depth for the Llangollen is surprisingly shallow, however you should not have any problems. I have taken a deeper boat up without any real problem although there are shallow gravelly sections where you have to be careful to follow the channel.
