Q & A

Caledonian Canal

Would like to try the Caledonian Canal, thinking of hiring a cruiser for a week.
Anyone got any recommendation? Thanks

WW says:

There are two main bases on the Caledonian Canal- Caley Cruisers at Inverness (www.caleycruisers.co.uk), and West Highland Sailing based at Laggan Locks(www.westhighlandsailing.com).
Both companies run a variety of cruisers, from cheaper Princess 30DS's (as Iona and Cgynet classes) through to large, luxurious cruisers.
West Highland Sailing also run a fleet of yachts, which are great for those with basic sailing experience. They also run the LeBoat fleet from the same site (www.leboat.co.uk)
All of them have a good web presence and all can be good value. We spend last year cruising the Caledonian on a basic Cygnet class boat, and it was a fantastic week, with no rain in April!
