Why does my battery use water?

I have 4 leisure batteries one of which runs dry in three of the six cells. Why is this?

WW says:

There is a good chance that the battery is defective. One cell becomes faulty and this puts pressure on the rest so that the next weakest succumbs and so on.

The best advice would be to replace the battery before it boils. Whether you replace the remaining batteries at the same time depends on their age and condition.
