EA cuts licence fee rise

Good news for river boaters from the Environment Agency: licences are to rise less than originally expected.

According to the Agency, "In response to the economic downturn and recognition of concerns raised by boating representatives, the Environment Agency has reacted quickly to reduce its previously agreed charging increase by 4%, which will ease pressure on boaters. This reduction, to 7.8%, has been broadly welcomed by customer representatives."
